- I'm a co-author of the book, "Choosing to Smile" which is available online at my website, www.choosingtosmile.com I am also a cancer survivor. I lost my entire right leg, hip and pelvis to bone cancer in 1988. Still happily married to the same man since 1982 and we have two wonderful sons - one married and one at home. I enjoy speaking at schools and presenting a 'Smoking Awareness Program for Teens' as well as speaking to audiences of all ages about the lighter side of living as a disabled person in an able bodied world. Welcome Vickie to our Blog. How wonderful that you are writing a book as well, and great to hear you are a breast cancer survivor as well. For me, having had breast cancer definitely took me on a journey. I currently am public speaking, writing a movie, and another book.
